SANTO DOMINGO – The Ministry of Tourism revealed this Monday part of the delegation that will accompany it in the development of the Dominican Republic's agenda at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026, which will be held from January 21 to 25 at IFEMA Madrid, Spain.
According to an official statement, the Dominican delegation will be made up of representatives from the public and private sectors, including the president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), David “Papo” Bancalari, and the president of Inverotel, Encarna Piñero.
The document does not provide a complete list of officials or business leaders attending the trade fair. However, it does state that the event will once again be sponsored by the three main banks: Popular, BHD, and Reservas.
It is also indicated that projects will be presented in Pedernales, Miches and Punta Bergantín , in addition to the announcement of new alliances with new hotel brands that would begin operations in the country.
The Ministry indicated that the country's agenda at FITUR 2026 will include meetings with tour operators, airlines and investors, as well as the presentation of initiatives related to the development of new tourist destinations and strategies for diversifying the offering, including sports tourism.
The official statement also notes that more than 60 co-exhibitors from the Dominican tourism sector will participate in the fair as part of the national pavilion, although the companies and organizations that make them up are not specified.
FITUR is one of the leading international tourism fairs and a regular platform for promotion and negotiation for destinations, governments, and private sector stakeholders. The Dominican Republic's participation in the 2026 edition is part of its strategy to position the country in the European market, particularly in Spain.
