Dominican delegation participates in construction convention in Medellín

SANTO DOMINGO. – A delegation of construction businessmen recently traveled to participate in Expo Camacol 2024, the most important convention of the Colombian Chamber of Construction (Camacol), in Medellín, Colombia.

The Dominican delegation held meetings with institutions such as the Urban Development Company (EDU) and the Medellín City Council, meetings that allowed for the exchange of knowledge on urban management, the processing of construction permits, and the exploration of new ideas to improve efficiency and sustainability in urban development.

The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Developers (Acoprovi) led the local members, standing out as the largest international delegation and one of the most prominent in the region, according to a press release.

"At this event, the Dominican delegation was honored with a special invitation to the press conference, during which they shared our sector's interest in supporting this type of event where knowledge and innovative vision regarding the future of the sector are expanded," the press document highlights.

He notes that one of the highlights of the visit was the meeting with the Camacol Antioquia team, during which crucial issues such as technical training and literacy for construction workers were discussed, as well as the implementation of sustainable certifications for buildings, such as the Camacol-Edge certification.

He adds that these were useful exchanges to broaden the vision and strategies that Acoprovi will be able to implement in the Dominican construction sector.

“We are proud to have represented the Dominican Republic at such an important event as Expo Camacol 2024,” said Annerys Meléndez, president of Acoprovi, adding that their participation allowed them to share the experience and progress of the construction sector, and to learn from the best international practices that can be adapted and applied in the country.

The document highlights that the entity's presence at Expo Camacol 2024 reaffirms the strength and growth of the sector in the Dominican Republic, and also improves the international connections that are essential for the continued development of the industry.

“The information and experiences gained during the fair will be applied to further boost the progress of the construction sector in the country, with the goal of continuing to position the Dominican Republic as a benchmark in the region,” says Meléndez.

The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Promoters (ACOPROVI) was established on March 13, 1997, with the primary purpose of supervising and promoting the progress of the construction and housing industries in the national territory.
