SANTO DOMINGO - A bill to change the name of the Eastern Tourist Boulevard to the Frank Rainieri Marranzini Tourist Boulevard was introduced in the session of October 8th in the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic.
The proposal is authored by the deputy for the province of La Altagracia, Francisco Rodolfo Villegas Pérez, dated October 2nd of this month, and in its considerations highlights the fruitful harvest of the founder of the Puntacana Group and his boost to the tourist development of the eastern zone.
“Don Frank Rafael Rainieri Marranzini served uninterruptedly as president of the Puntacana Group for more than 50 years, turning this tourist destination into a national brand, and the best known in the Dominican Republic in the world,” states one of the considerations.

He emphasizes that the business leader was one of the driving forces behind the construction of the Eastern Tourist Boulevard, enabling tourists to reach their destinations easily and quickly.
He adds that in 1969, under a complex and difficult socio-economic context, Grupo Puntacana was formed, highlighting the boldness of the businessman, a pioneer in the tourism development of the region.
“Don Frank Rafael Rainieri Marranzini, for his contributions to the community, has earned numerous local and international recognitions, such as the “Outstanding Young Person” award from the Jaycees chapter in 1978. It is also important to mention the high distinction of the “Presidential Citation Award” granted in 1985 by the then President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. In that same year, he was chosen by the United Nations to represent the Dominican Republic at the Young Entrepreneurs in Developing Countries seminar, held in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1999, he was awarded “Hotelier of the Year” by the Caribbean Hotel Association,” the document states.
