SANTO DOMINGO.- As announced, the commission appointed by the Executive Branch to investigate the causes of the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub, which occurred on April 8 of this year and left more than 230 people dead and more than 180 injured, delivered its report yesterday, Wednesday, June 11, in the afternoon, to the Public Ministry.
Both the Prosecution Directorate of the Public Ministry, in charge of monitoring the process, and Leonardo Reyes, director of the National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie), who chaired the commission that conducted the investigation in the disaster zone, confirmed the information regarding the receipt of the preliminary report.
"We already submitted the report a moment ago , we fulfilled our obligation, thank God," Madera told Listín Diario yesterday afternoon.
The roof of the iconic Jet Set nightclub collapsed shortly after midnight on April 8, 2025, while merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who died in the tragedy, was performing at a packed party. Official figures report 236 deaths and more than 180 injuries as a result of the collapse.
The commission in charge of the expert assessment is made up of, in addition to engineer Madera , Professor Eduardo Fierro , forensic engineer from the University of California at Berkeley, United States ; engineer Máximo Corominas , structural pathologist from the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences in Spain ; engineer Marcos Paniagua Yost , with a master's degree from the Catholic University of Chile and engineer Remy Luciano , with a master's degree in earthquake-resistant engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
