Comfort comes first: this is how the 'comfy' style is worn in decoration 2025

The silent revolution transforming our homes has a name: the comfy trend . After establishing itself on the fashion runways several seasons ago, this movement has arrived in interior design with an irresistible proposition: prioritizing everyday well-being and turning every corner into a space that comforts us both physically and emotionally.

Touch as the protagonist

If there's one thing that defines this trend, it's the invitation to touch . Caressing that natural linen cushion, running your fingers over those cool organic cotton sheets, feeling the pleasant texture of that rattan basket… Materials are the true protagonists of the comfy style, and although it might seem crazy, touching them is also an excellent way to practice mindfulness and even help you meditate after a busy day.

Hello to soft, curved shapes

Look around your living room… How many sharp corners do you see? The comfy trend suggests softening those lines with furniture that has rounded shapes, which is also safer if you have children or pets running around the house . Sofas with generous curves, coffee tables with softened edges, and enveloping armchairs are not only more visually comfortable, but our brains also perceive them as more relaxing. Coincidence? Not at all. Nature has hardly any straight lines, which is why these organic shapes instinctively feel more welcoming to us.

A relaxed color palette

Forget those dramatic contrasts that dominated previous seasons. The comfy palette favors calming tones : warm beiges, soft terracotta, sage greens, desaturated blues… Colors that, instead of competing for your attention, create a harmonious backdrop where you can unwind.

Prioritize order

We know: it's impossible to relax when you have to put aside three magazines and the remote control just to sit on the sofa. To avoid these kinds of situations, the comfy trend advocates for storage solutions.

Our favorites? Baskets made of natural fibers. They're the perfect hiding place for blankets, magazines, toys, or anything you need to keep handy but out of sight. Plus, they add texture and warmth to any corner.

Open but not overcrowded shelves, ottomans with interior storage space, or entryway benches with drawers are other great options for keeping things tidy without turning it into an obsession.

If there's a secret to creating inviting spaces, it's layering textiles. Imagine a bed with organic cotton sheets, covered by a light duvet, with a linen throw at the foot and several cushions with different textures. Or a sofa with a neutral base upon which you place cushions in complementary tones and a strategically placed, seemingly "untidy" light throw…

This combination of textures creates visual depth and, therefore, a very comfy atmosphere. The key is to stay within a coherent color palette, but play with different finishes : smooth and textured, dense and light… And no, you don't need to change all your bedding every season. Natural textiles like linen look even better with time and each wash, gaining in softness and character. As you can see, they're wonderful.

Mood-enhancing lighting

Look up right now. How many light sources do you see in your room? If the answer is "one on the ceiling," you urgently need a comfy upgrade. Flexible, layered lighting is essential for creating environments that adapt to any moment. A floor lamp behind a reading chair, small table lamps strategically placed, adjustable wall sconces… When you combine different heights and light intensities, you completely transform the perception of space . On the other hand, warm lighting (bulbs between 2700K and 3000K) is much more effective at promoting well-being, especially in the bedroom. And let's not forget candles.

A touch of nature

A comfy home also needs a dose of greenery, so be sure to incorporate houseplants to improve the air and connect with nature, especially now that spring is here . Species like pothos or sansevieria are practically indestructible.

Ultimately, a comfy home is one that welcomes you after a tiring day and where you can be yourself, and that, of course, is a true luxury.
