SANTO DOMINGO . More than three years after part of the roof of that building collapsed, the new president of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA), Geom. Eng. Enrique Rosario García, seeks to restore the building , whose collapse occurred on June 10, 2022 and still remains unresolved.
The new leader received architect Juan Mubarak, director of Monumental Heritage, in his office this week to discuss issues related to the reconstruction of the collapsed area of the institution's headquarters, located on Padre Billini Street near the corner of Isabel La Católica , in the Colonial City.
The building that houses Codia is an original 16th-century construction , modified in 1921 to house the Casa de España.
During the meeting, the authorities conducted an inspection tour of the affected facilities, as part of the efforts to expedite the rehabilitation process .
Rosario García was accompanied by the treasurer of CODIA, surveyor Rafael Ferreras Ramírez, and the secretary of Inter-Union Affairs, Agricultural Engineer Florencia González Mejía.
"CODIA reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a safe and functional space for all its members, moving forward with the prompt recovery of its institutional home," highlights a press release from the entity.
