SANTO DOMINGO - The College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia) asked all engineering professionals in the country to make themselves available to national and municipal authorities in order to face the effects of Hurricane Fiona, whose winds increased last night to 150 KPH.
The president of the association, Cristian Rojas Mora, stated that Codia will be attentive to any emergency that may occur, such as damage to road infrastructure or agriculture in the impact zones where the hurricane will be felt.
He added that it is a professional ethical commitment that corresponds to the moment due to the passage of Hurricane Fiona, which made landfall this Monday on the coasts of the Dominican Republic, after causing havoc in Puerto Rico.
Fiona impacted some of the coastal provinces of the East and Northeast, where the effects will be felt most strongly and is expected to produce heavy rainfall over the national territory.
He said that damage has occurred to several structures in the Bavaro, Punta Cana and Higuey area, some considerable, especially in the residential electrical sector.
The president of Codia demanded that the authorities of the relief agencies inform the population where the shelters are located in the face of the calamitous reality caused by the effects of Fiona
