SANTO DOMINGO - Cemex announced the addition of a new turn warning alarm system to its fleet of heavy vehicles, seeking to reduce risks on the roads.
The turn alarm installed on the trucks of the concrete and cement fleets is a device with functions synchronized to the turn signal system and reverse sensor that, when activated, emits a speaker with a voice in Spanish that indicates the action that the equipment will perform, increasing the level of alert on the roads, highlights a press release from the company.
It adds that the device thus reduces the risk of accidents, improving the safety of the driver and other vulnerable users such as cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians, especially in conditions of low visibility.
“At Cemex, we have a strong commitment to comprehensive safety across all our operations, and we invest in the development of technological solutions to contribute to road safety. Our commitment encompasses everything from equipment to ongoing road safety training for our drivers, as well as awareness campaigns through workshops for vulnerable road users regarding the dangers they face when near heavy vehicles and blind spots,” stated Arlina Vasquez, Supply Chain Director.
The press release explains that the alert system emits the warning with a soft and direct sound, at a volume suitable to alert road users, allowing those nearby to hear it without causing noise pollution.
"For more than 5 years, Cemex has developed a comprehensive program that seeks to raise awareness among users such as motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians, about road safety and vehicle blind spots; awareness campaigns for vulnerable road users are carried out with the aim of preventing regrettable incidents, protecting lives by alerting about potential dangers and raising the level of awareness of citizens.".
The press release highlights that Cemex's commitment to safety is comprehensive, as it is the company's highest priority. Safety encompasses a cross-cutting and integrated company program that includes, but is not limited to, continuous training for its drivers, awareness campaigns both internally and externally, alliances with companies from other sectors and industries to reinforce public awareness, as well as modern equipment with the implementation of prevention, monitoring, and consequence systems for any violation of the company's safety policies and protocols.
