SANTO DOMINGO – Grupo Piñero announced the opening of Cayo Levantado Resort, a project through which the company enters the luxury segment with its hotel division, featuring a sustainable concept and aligning with the new trend in environmentally conscious construction.
In a press release, the Group explains that the new offering aims to transform each guest's stay into an unforgettable personal journey of well-being and rejuvenation. The five-star, all-inclusive resort provides an experience that immerses guests in authentic Dominican culture and lifestyle, leveraging sustainability, mind, body, and spirit well-being, and world-class cuisine.
Located five kilometers from the Samaná Peninsula, Cayo Levantado Resort officially opened its doors yesterday, June 1st, with the presence of Isabel García Lorca, President and Founder of Grupo Piñero and Encarna Piñero, Executive Vice President and CEO.
"This unique resort - on a unique island - has 218 rooms distributed in 10 types with different environments inspired by the nature of the country, from Junior Suite rooms, to private villas with capacity for up to 8 people.".
The document elaborates that, through the creation of a new vision of what luxury tourism should be, called: "the luxury of regenerating," Cayo Levantado Resort materializes a proposal based on sustainable innovation and sophistication that revolves around a triple regeneration focused on the guest experience, respect and protection of its environment, as well as homage to the local culture.
With the aim of providing guests with a personal experience of self-discovery, during their stay they will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the four wellness paths: REFRESH, RESTORE, RELAX and RENEW, programs designed by professionals with extensive experience in Wellness and who are part of the Cayo Levantado Resort staff, says the press release.
"This experience will allow visitors to participate in activities that lead them to this phase of personal reconnection in a natural and magical environment. Highlights include: higher-intensity activities and physical training therapies, as well as spa treatments, menus tailored by nutritionists, and meditation sessions with an emphasis on spiritual growth.".
The resort takes wellness a step further with Yubarta, considered the true heart of the island, fully integrated into the tropical gardens in the center of the Cay and offered as an elevated experience for personal growth and discovery, complementing the all-inclusive.
Its name—explains the Piñero Group—is a tribute to the humpback whales that annually visit the warm waters of Samaná Bay during their breeding season. The creation of this space seeks to establish an atmosphere that helps visitors connect with themselves.
Regarding the gastronomic offering, he adds that the new resort takes the experience to the highest level, thanks to its selection of 6 restaurants with a selective catering and cocktail service for all tastes, highlighting international, healthy, Mediterranean, Nikkei fusion, steak house and of course, traditional Dominican cuisine.
To guarantee the unique and exclusive nature of Cayo Levantado Resort, a partnership has been established with Forbes Travel Guide. Sustainability 360
With the aim of protecting the ecosystem, preserving the fauna and flora and minimizing the ecological impact on Cayo Levantado, Grupo Piñero has opted for innovation and sustainability in all aspects of its new space, for this reason, the resort has a water production plant (and bottling) by condensation and photovoltaic panels.
In terms of preservation, it's worth noting that Cayo Levantado marks the beginning of the Samaná Bay reef zone, as well as being a vital refuge for birds, whales, and corals. Given this, and with the aim of protecting this natural habitat, the Eco-Bay Foundation, promoted by Grupo Piñero, works in conjunction with local NGOs such as CEBSE and FUNDEMAR for the conservation and restoration of coral reefs.
Regarding resource savings, check-in is paperless with identification bracelets, the rooms meet the zero plastic criteria, and there is a "RoomXperience" room control system that allows each guest to control their actual energy consumption with lighting control, presence sensors, door and window opening sensors, as well as temperature and humidity control.
