SANTO DOMINGO. -The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced the suspension of the cable car service from Saturday, April 1st to Sunday, April 9th to carry out scheduled maintenance work on sections 1 and 2.
He reported that they will take advantage of the Easter holiday, when less passenger traffic is expected, to perform maintenance on the cable car system.
To facilitate the transfer of users during those days off, the institution indicated that it has provided an alternative bus service from the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA) at no additional cost and during the same operating hours as the Cable Car.
In that regard, the alternative routes for the OMSA service are as follows:
Passengers from the Los Tres Brazos station (T2) will be transported to the Ercilia Pepín Metro station and vice versa by OMSA bus; those from the Sabana Pérdida station (T3) and Charles de Gaulle (T4) will be transported to the Rosa Duarte Metro station and vice versa by OMSA bus.
The maintenance day is part of OPRET , under the management of its executive director, Rafael Santos Pérez, to guarantee a safe and efficient service to citizens.
These works guarantee the proper functioning of this means of transport, which is used daily by thousands of citizens and which have been planned since its construction and commissioning; these maintenance works are carried out regularly, during periods of lower service demand, in all cable cars around the world.
The institution appreciates the understanding of its users, and also informs that, although the cable car will be out of service, it has deployed a customer service team to inform and assist the public.
