Banks will require proof of vaccination from their customers

They will have new schedules

SANTO DOMINGO.- In compliance with circular 016-21 of the Superintendency of Banks, the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA) reported that its members will require, starting next Monday, October 18, the presentation of a vaccination card at the entrance of branches and bank offices.

In a statement, the ABA explained that visitors must present their identity card and vaccination card, containing at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, except for vaccines that require only one dose.

He clarified that both documents can be presented in original, as a legible physical copy, or as a digital photograph. Alternatively, the results of an original PCR test with a negative result, performed no more than seven (7) days prior by a laboratory authorized by the Ministry of Public Health or with a special permit issued by said agency, can be shown.

The union specified that, according to the resolution, on a temporary basis, entry to establishments will be permitted to people vaccinated with a single dose and who are within the period to receive the second dose as announced by the Minister of Public Health.

In addition, he reminded everyone that the mandatory use of masks, respect for physical distancing, disinfection of spaces, as well as the occupancy of up to 75% of the establishment's capacity, among other measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, remain in place.

The ABA encouraged users to utilize modern digital channels, ATMs, and banking sub-agents enabled by financial intermediation entities, where they can quickly and efficiently carry out their transactions.

New schedules

Due to the end of the state of emergency declared by the Executive Branch, multiple banks will begin a process of gradually reducing the hours maintained during the pandemic, reported the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA).

For November, the ABA specified that, from Monday to Saturday, bank branches will open between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, offices located in shopping centers will begin operations at 10:00 am. Meanwhile, drive-through tellers will open between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, Monday to Friday, and at 9:00 am on Saturdays. As for offices in supermarkets, the opening time will be 9:00 am, Monday to Saturday.

Regarding the closing time, the ABA indicated that bank branches will close between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday; while on Saturdays they will close between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. In the case of offices in shopping centers, the closing time will be 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday; and on Saturdays they will be open to the public until 2:00 pm, it specified.

The self-checkout lanes will close between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Saturdays, the trade association indicated. It noted that supermarket offices are scheduled to close between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Saturdays.

The ABA indicated that, starting in December, opening hours will be set between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, except for shopping malls, which will open at 10:00 am. Meanwhile, it explained that closing time will be no later than 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday; and on Saturdays, service will extend until 4:00 pm at the latest.
