Banks will make temporary changes to their opening hours due to the increase in COVID-19 cases

SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Republic's Multiple Banking Association (ABA) announced today that its member financial institutions will be making temporary changes to their business hours as part of measures to safeguard the well-being of customers and employees. However, they did not provide details regarding the new opening and closing times.

He said that these actions will be supported by resolution 018-21 of the Superintendency of Banks, issued on Thursday, December 30, which authorizes financial intermediation entities and exchange intermediaries to adopt the necessary provisions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, whose Omicron variant is circulating in the country.

In a press release, the organization representing multiple banks in the country detailed that the supervisory body will be notified of the modifications to the working hours of the different offices and branches, as established by the official provision.

The union indicated that, under the aforementioned resolution, multiple banks may enable remote work for the staff they deem necessary and possible.

At the same time, he reminded users that they have access to digital channels, ATMs, and banking sub-agents, enabled by the different banking entities operating in the country, to carry out various transactions.

In addition, the ABA stated that its members will ensure compliance with the measures of the authorities in their facilities, including the mandatory use of masks, physical distancing, the use of disinfectant gel or alcohol among visitors and collaborators, frequent hand washing, as well as disinfection of common areas.

The association representing multiple banks expressed its willingness to cooperate in all measures, not only to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but also all those aimed at preserving collective health.
