SANTO DOMINGO - The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that, from 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 , until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, vehicle traffic will be temporarily enabled
This measure aims to help alleviate traffic congestion in the southern region of the country, given the considerable increase in vehicular traffic during the Easter holiday.
The temporary opening of this important road is the result of a logistical effort that will allow a significant portion of the long-distance traffic that usually passes through the city center of Baní to be diverted. This will improve road safety and traffic flow for both residents and visitors .
The MOPC also highlighted that, once the temporary authorization period is over, work will resume on Monday the 21st at 8:00 a.m. on the aforementioned road, which is being carried out in an accelerated manner, in order to fully complete the aforementioned road in the shortest possible time.
During the provisional opening period, joint brigades including teams from Digesset and Comipol, deployed for Operation Holy Week 2025 led by the Emergency Operations Center (COE), will be stationed along the Baní ring road, providing roadside assistance, guidance, and support to drivers. The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) urges citizens to drive with caution , respect speed limits and traffic signals , emphasizing that road safety is everyone's responsibility.
