SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano was awarded at the twelfth edition of the Latam Digital Awards 2025, held in Bogotá, Colombia, for its digital affiliation project through credit card and loan products, and for JULIA Virtual Assistant , an artificial intelligence-based tool focused on supporting employees.
onboarding project for these credit products won first place in the Excellence in Digital Financial Services category for allowing users to join the bank completely digitally through the Popular App and, in addition, to choose a credit card or a personal loan in their first interaction with the financial institution.
This system reduces bank connection times, increases efficiency, and improves financial inclusion and banking for people without a prior financial history, offering them a credit opportunity as new customers.
Thanks to this ease of connection, Popular expects to generate a boost in customer acquisition and digital sales to reach 45% of total products sold through digital channels by the end of 2025.
JULIA virtual assistant for employees
The JULIA Virtual Assistant project was awarded two second places at the Latam Digital Awards 2025.
The first, in the category of Innovation in AI Solutions for Customer Service, recognized its impact on improving the internal experience by automating queries, issuing digital tokens and resolving technical incidents.
The second award, in the Excellence in Process Automation category, recognized its ability to optimize key operations such as access and request management, establishing itself as a strategic tool for operational efficiency.
Since its launch in June 2024, JULIA has handled over 21,000 interactions with a 97.16% satisfaction rate, thanks to its ability to eliminate delays and improve the user experience. Its impact has been tangible, reducing the technical service desk's workload by more than 50%, allowing employees to dedicate more time to higher-value tasks and direct customer support, which in turn has a positive impact on service quality.
