SANTO DOMINGO. - Banco Popular Dominicano reports that at midday today, Thursday, an incident occurred at its branch located in the city of Higüey, when an unarmed individual entered the establishment announcing his intention to commit a robbery.
"Thanks to the swift and effective action of the security personnel, as well as the immediate application of established protocols, the situation was brought under control without any personal or material damage. No customers or employees were affected," the bank stated in a press release.
He explains that the police authorities immediately went to the scene, arrested the individual and took him into custody, confirming that he was unarmed.
"Banco Popular Dominicano reiterates its commitment to the safety of its clients, employees and communities, keeping its prevention and response protocols active in the event of any eventuality, in coordination with the competent authorities," the document concludes.
