Asonahores welcomes loyalty program for travel agencies launched by MITUR

SANTO DOMINGO. -The Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores) endorsed the loyalty plan for travel agencies and tour operators in tourist markets, announced last week by President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

David Llibre, president of the organization, stated in a press release that the DO Travel Rewards Loyalty Program complements the work carried out by the Ministry of Tourism to promote the country and assured that it will have a positive impact on hotel occupancy and the Dominican tourism offer in general.

He added that it will also strengthen the international promotion strategy of the Marketing Committee of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).

"This innovative proposal will allow the Marketing Committee, of which Asonahores is a part, to design incentive programs for travel agencies, which are responsible for marketing our tourism product abroad," the statement reads.

He explained that it will be possible to develop "specific actions for a country, a market or a specific destination, allowing us to strengthen and contribute to maintaining over time the promotion based on the roadshows (marketing activities) carried out by the Ministry of Tourism , headed by Minister David Collado."

Tourist value

Llibre opined that initiatives like DO Travel Rewards differentiate the Dominican Republic and establish it as a leader in the competition, by creating value propositions for travel agencies, which are the main partners of the hotel sector.

He considered Asonahores' collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism an "example of active integration between the public and private sectors." We had the opportunity to learn about and participate in this important project, as well as confirm our members' interest in being an active participant and supporting this strategy.

Llibre welcomed the presence of more than 600 travel agents from different countries in the Americas who visited Santo Domingo to attend the program launch.

In addition, those attending the official launch also participated in a business meeting with Dominican tourism companies at the Hotel Jaragua, where the event took place.
