SANTO DOMINGO.- One of the challenges facing the architecture profession today is to ensure that students graduate better prepared to face the realities of the Dominican Republic and the world in general.
This reflection was shared by architect Jorge Montalvo, president of the Dominican Association of Housing Builders (ACOPROVI), on the occasion of the celebration of "National Architecture Day" on the third of this month.
“I think they need to learn more about the construction aspects and their implications; this will help them design better projects and be able to communicate more easily with the engineers and other professionals who will be involved in making their projects a reality,” he stated in response to questions from El Inmobiliario.
For this successful professional, the architect's role is to design spaces that enhance the quality of life for their users. He studied architecture out of a sense of vocation, and although his parents were doctors, he always knew he would study something related to creativity, which is why he chose architecture.
“This profession has allowed me to create and continue creating to benefit the quality of life of hundreds of Dominicans and, in turn, innovate in structures that modernize our city,” he points out.
Although Montalvo has continued designing since the beginning of his professional life, he became involved with and fell in love with construction, a sector that, he says, has given him the opportunity to continue creating and evolving as a professional. “Thanks to this relationship, today I am an architect, builder, and housing developer.”.
