It announced that starting in October, it will increase its routes, adding flights to Toronto and Montreal, Canada; Medellín and Bogotá, Colombia; San José, Costa Rica; and Kingston, Jamaica; thus establishing a broad route network of 20 destinations in 12 countries in its first three months of operations.
SANTO DOMINGO – Arajet announced yesterday that it has begun selling tickets with prices starting at $55 one way and $149 round trip, including taxes, for various destinations in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean, connecting Santo Domingo with new tourist and commercial experiences, making the country a hub for the Americas.
Victor Pacheco, president of Arajet, stated, in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, that the airline will mark the rebirth of Dominican aviation and that they project to be moving seven million passengers per year within a period of approximately five years.
“We promised low prices, and we are going to have fares never before seen in our country. Starting in September, we will begin the process of transforming Las Américas International Airport into the new air hub of the Caribbean, allowing us to connect the continent at the lowest cost, with world-class services and with new and more efficient aircraft on the market,” Pacheco stated during the launch at a hotel in Santo Domingo.
First takeoff
The first flight will be on September 15 to Mexico City, and Monterrey and Cancún will also be served by that destination. In addition, starting on that date, flights will be offered to Barranquilla, Cali, and Cartagena in Colombia; Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador; Lima in Peru; Guatemala City in Guatemala; San Salvador in El Salvador; and Saint Martin, Aruba, and Curaçao in the Caribbean.

Diversified tourism
“At the Ministry of Tourism, we are committed to diversifying tourism and expanding airspace at fair rates. Thanks to this, we have achieved record numbers despite the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict,” said Minister David Collado, according to a press release.
Collado added: “Seeing this map of a Dominican airline, connecting Santo Domingo with so many destinations across the continent, demonstrates confidence in the future and aligns with the vision we expressed upon assuming the presidency of the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat (SITCA). Our marketing and market development efforts will continue to support these initiatives.”.
October will add new destinations
Arajet also announced that starting in October they will increase their routes, adding flights to Toronto and Montreal, Canada; Medellín and Bogotá, Colombia; San José, Costa Rica; and Kingston, Jamaica; thus establishing a broad route network of 20 destinations in 12 countries in their first three months of operations.
Regarding flights to the United States, Pacheco reported: “We are actively working with the Dominican government to obtain the necessary permits and begin service to that country as soon as possible. This will allow us to offer low fares to the Dominican diaspora, who currently have to pay high prices and are clamoring for warm and humane service.”.
With five new planes
Arajet will begin operations with five new Boeing 737 Max-800 aircraft. They explained that these are state-of-the-art aircraft designed to be environmentally friendly, with 14% less fuel consumption compared to most single-aisle aircraft, allowing the airline to save on fuel, maintenance, and operating costs and, in turn, pass those savings on to customers.
