SANTO DOMINGO. - Arajet will begin offering air services between October and November of this year to Orlando, Chicago and Boston in the United States, according to information provided by Víctor Pacheco Méndez , general director of the Dominican airline.
During a breakfast meeting with media directors, the executive presented a summary of the company's growth and the goals for the end of the year.
For the next network planning cycle, Arajet will focus its efforts on increasing frequencies on routes with high seasonal demand, expanding its network of connections to improve overall travel times between key markets, and continuing with responsible expansion based on operational efficiency and consistent service.
These new routes add to the operating destinations 16 countries , at a time when the company projects to transport almost 2 million passengers by the end of this year, of which more than 200,000 will be connecting passengers, consolidating the airline as a key player in regional connectivity.
In this way, the Dominican airline reaffirms its growth strategy, aiming to meet seasonal demand and improve connectivity between key markets, offering more efficient and affordable travel options.
“My idea was not just to create an airline that worked, but that the average Dominican could feel represented with dignity by Arajet ,” said Pacheco, highlighting that the business model has focused on bringing people closer to their families, generating employment, and offering flights at affordable prices.
Growth
So far in 2025, Arajet has registered 3,683 flights for a growth of 32%, so it projects a close very similar to that of 2024, when an increase of 78% was achieved.
This growth has positioned Arajet as the third largest airline in the country, both in terms of the number of flights and passengers carried.
“For the second consecutive month, we were the third airline with the most passengers transported in the country. We did it in July and we did it again in August,” Pacheco stated.
One of the points the executive highlighted was the transformation of the fare market since Arajet's entry. He emphasized that in 2022, the average ticket price in the region was $450 , while Arajet entered the market with an average of $175 , forcing competitors to adjust their prices to $225.
“This market adjustment allowed thousands of people to fly for the first time or to fly more frequently. This democratized aviation and enabled more people to buy tickets, not only with Arajet, but also with our competitors,” Pacheco stated.
He emphasized that in 2019, before the pandemic, the country recorded 41,000 annual flights ; however, by 2025, that number had risen to more than 47,000 flights per year.
He also reported that flight occupancy has improved: from 74% in 2022, it has risen to 80% in 2025.
“This shows that the contribution we are making is reflected not only in our numbers, but in those of the entire country,” he said.
There will be 19 aircraft
He indicated that with a fleet of 12 aircraft , the most recent one added just last Friday, Arajet projects to close 2025 with six new units, and reach 19 aircraft by the end of 2026.
Each new aircraft represents a significant source of jobs, which translates into 50 direct, 100 indirect and 30 additional jobs at different levels, which directly impacts the national production system.
She said that the company currently has 750 direct employees and more than 1,300 indirect jobs . Over 50% of management positions are held by women, a rare figure in the aviation industry.
“That’s not normal in aviation, and it fills me with pride to see so many women leading alongside me,” she emphasized.
Victor Pacheco said that Arajet has 700 employees and estimates that by 2028 it will need about 7,000 employees.
