SANTO DOMINGO.- The Airport Department (DA ) announced this Thursday the activation, together with agencies in the sector and the Ministry of Tourism, of the Action Plan for the Management of Passenger Flow in high season at International Airports, on the occasion of the Christmas festivities.
Victor Pichardo, director of the entity, announced the information during the celebration of a Eucharist at the Cathedral of the Americas, commemorating the 44th anniversary of the institution, which was attended by executives, collaborators and special guests.
"This plan will facilitate, in a safe and comfortable manner, the entry and exit of passengers at all international airports in the country," said the DA director.
The official reviewed the agency's achievements, highlighting the challenges overcome by the institution in the last two years to achieve the recovery of national tourism, hand in hand with the Presidency of the Republic and the Tourism Cabinet.
He highlighted as an achievement that the Dominican Republic was recognized as the country that best managed the crisis, taking the opportunity to thank President Luis Abinader for his trust, support and commitment to the advancement of the sector and the entire country.
He praised the National Heliport Network project, the "El Granero del Sur" Domestic Airport in the province of San Juan, and "the most important project of this administration, the Cabo Rojo International Airport in Pedernales.".
“And we are highly proud that this week, we eliminated the 24-hour advance authorization that pilots and aircraft owners were required to obtain from the Air Force Operations Center to conduct domestic flights,” he said.
In the case of the private sector, he asserts that the security climate generated by the government has been expressed in the expansion of the Punta Cana International Airport and the Cibao International Airport; the refurbishment of the runway at the Gregorio Luperón International Airport, and the renovation of the commercial areas of the José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport.
