SANTO DOMINGO. JetSMART airline announced this Wednesday the opening of two international routes connecting Punta Cana with the cities of Medellín and Cali , in Colombia, starting on December 5, 2025 .
With this addition, the Dominican Republic joins the network of destinations , which currently flies to nine countries in the region. Flights to Medellín will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while the connection to Cali will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
According to a press release, the journey between Punta Cana and Medellín will take approximately two hours and 40 minutes, and the one to Cali , about three hours.
According to JetSMART , it projects carrying more than 90,000 passengers on both routes during the first year of operation . The new connections will also allow travelers to access other South American destinations via the airline's internal routes.
Representatives from the company and tourism promotion authorities in Colombia highlighted the impact this initiative will have on connectivity between the Caribbean and South America .
JetSMART , which began operations in 2016, has a fleet of 49 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft and operates more than 80 routes in the region.
