Airbnb will present a study on the economic impact of short-term rentals in the Dominican Republic

“It’s excellent that they’ve taken us into account as a country, because for Airbnb we’re one of the most important and fastest-growing destinations in Latin America.” Alberto Bogaert.

SANTO DOMINGO. - Two top executives from the Airbnb platform recently visited the country to share with real estate industry stakeholders the results of a study conducted on the economic impact of short-term rentals in the Dominican Republic.

“The study reflects the contributions of this platform to the economic development of the environment and services derived from an Airbnb user visitor in our country,” declared Alberto Bogaert, president of AEI, the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies, the entity that the representatives visited to present the results of the research.

Carlos Muñoz, director of campaigns and public policy for the Caribbean and Central America for Airbnb based in Washington, and Enmanuel Alcántara, were the delegates who were in the country to present the study report to entities linked to the real estate sector.

The research was conducted by Oxford Economics, and although they did not specify the date it will be released to the public, it demonstrates the importance the company places on the Dominican market, whose platform has grown significantly in the last two years.

From AEI's Instagram.

“It’s excellent that as a country they have taken us into account, because for Airbnb we are one of the most important and fastest growing destinations in Latin America,” Bogaert explained.

For the president of the AEI, it is also encouraging news "that as an association they have contacted us because that demonstrates the work done in positioning and image that we have carried out both nationally and internationally.".

In their opinion, for the platform, "it was very important to share with us a study of the economic impact generated by Airbnb in the Dominican Republic.".

Besides Bogaert, those present at the meeting from the association included Juan Estévez, 1st vice president; Isely Almánzar, 2nd vice president; Reyna Echenique, secretary; and Olga Gómez, executive director.
