The goal is to reduce the risk of disruptive celebrations and ensure safe and respectful stays for hosts and communities.
Powered by machine learning, this tool evaluates hundreds of signals to identify bookings that could pose a higher risk of disruption. If detected, the requests are blocked or redirected to safer options, such as private rooms or hotel stays.
According to Airbnb's official statement in Puerto Rico , over 200 people were prevented from booking entire homes on New Year's Eve thanks to this technology. The company noted that since the implementation of the global ban on disruptive parties five years ago, complaints related to these types of events have decreased by more than 50%.
Airbnb reminded users that bookings made by third parties and unaccompanied minors under 18 are prohibited. Those who violate these rules may face cancellation of their bookings, account deletion, and financial liability for property damage. Furthermore, the platform cooperates with law enforcement in criminal investigations when necessary.
