SANTIAGO. -The Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pável Isa Contreras, and the mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez, yesterday activated the metropolitan associated territorial planning plan in order to ensure the sustainable urban growth of this important territory.
At a meeting held in the mayor's office, it was reported that the planning committee will be activated so that each sector can understand the scope and make joint decisions, in order to ensure the success of this territorial planning plan.
The Minister of Economy was accompanied by the technical team headed by the Vice Minister of Territorial Planning and Regional Development, Domingo Matías; the Director of Regional Offices, Francisco Rojas; the ORP Regional Representative, Agustín González; as well as Ana Vásquez, Alejandro Nouel and Samuel Ventura.
Also present were independent specialists Radhamés García and Reynaldo Peguero. Representing the mayor's office was Marcos Gómez, director of land-use planning for the municipality.
Santiago, known as the Heart City, is the second largest metropolis in the Dominican Republic and is located in the heart of the Cibao Valley. The metropolitan development plan will include Santiago, Villa González, Tamboril, Puñal, and Licey.
