SANTO DOMINGO. - President Luis Abinader inaugurated yesterday, Saturday, the expansion and continuation of Hípica Avenue, which will now bear the name of Freddy Beras Goico, in the municipality of Santo Domingo East.
The project has a direct impact on approximately 400,000 people who live in the surrounding urbanizations and neighborhoods, or who are located and travel along the entire length of the avenue and the other streets and roads that converge there, generating a dynamic vehicular interaction.
Among the communities most favored by this expansion are: El Almirante, Buenaventura, Prados de San Luis residential area, Pradera del Este, the residents of the San Isidro Air Base, Cedros de San Luis, Ciudad Real San Luis, the La Grúa and El Encantador neighborhoods, the Las Cayenas and Amalia residential areas, as well as Prado Oriental, among others.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, highlighted that this December President Abinader delivered two of the most important roads that this municipality has ever had, and what took decades to achieve, in just 3 years of his administration, has been accomplished and will continue.
The official announced that the president will return to this area in January or early February to inaugurate a section of the Ecological Highway, and added that they are also making progress and have begun laying asphalt on a significant portion of the road.
He indicated that this road is part of a road infrastructure plan that the government of President Abinader has been developing throughout the Dominican Republic, but specifically in this municipality. He recalled that just a few days ago the expansion of Fernández Domínguez Avenue was completed, which, together with the already finished work on the extension of the Ecológica highway and now with the opening of this road, are connecting the Americas with the Samaná highway and directly with all of Santo Domingo East.
He emphasized that this road provides one of the most important access points in the entire municipality and said that the development of this area, with a strong potential for real estate expansion, had been stalled for decades, but that now, with the execution of these works, dozens of housing projects have been launched in just two years.

Ascensión stated that rarely has a road had such a significant impact on real estate development and a rate of return—not only social but also economic—as this road currently under construction. "Mr. President," she said, "with this project, you are impacting more than 400,000 people living in this area, making life easier for residents.".
He specified that this is a road approximately 10 kilometers long and that it covers from South to North, such an important part of the territory of this municipality of Santo Domingo East.
A new city
"This will become a new city. Rarely does a road cause such an impact as this one will. These are works done with the highest quality standards and with a minimal investment, which is still significant because it represents more than 700 million pesos. But I reiterate, its rate of return will be achieved in less time, due to the job creation, the development of real estate projects, and also the payment of municipal taxes," Ascensión emphasized.
The Minister of Public Works stated that Freddy Beras Goico was probably the most complete of the Dominican artists and that throughout his life he showed a profound human solidarity and a great social commitment.
For his part, the mayor of Santo Domingo East, Manuel Jiménez, expressed that this road, built with due diligence, accelerates the process of making this municipality a city close to the airport and the sea, and affirmed that this has been possible thanks to the vision of President Abinader, because just three years ago it was impassable and today it is a quality road.
After the inauguration, President Abinader made a supervisory visit to the construction work on the section of the Ecological Highway that will be delivered next year.
Those attending the inauguration of Freddy Beras Goico Avenue included the governor of Santo Domingo province, Julia Drullard; the commanding general of the Dominican Republic Air Force, Major General Pilot Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez; the director general of Traffic and Land Transportation Security (Digesett), Brigadier General Francisco Osoria De La Cruz; and the contractor Marcos Malespín.
