SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS - The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, led the groundbreaking ceremony this Friday for the start of construction of the photo stop at the entrance to the province of San Pedro de Macorís.
The project, which will have an investment of 84 million pesos, will be a space dedicated to baseball players from San Pedro de Macorís.
The main authorities of this city were present during the event, such as Governor Araceli Villanueva, who thanked the president for making this project a reality.
“This great project at the entrance to San Pedro de Macorís is a great dream, and the realization of dreams in most cases begins with a struggle, and this has been no exception,” he stated.
He said that since 2016 he has been fighting to make this project a reality and that, although the road was long, "today it is a dream come true.".
Mayor Raymon Ortiz said that this city should be marketed internationally, as it is considered the birthplace of baseball.
He stated that this project aims to create a city brand, thereby attracting more tourists to the province.
