at the Taino Bay
This peak in arrivals reflects a sustained growth trend this year. For example, in November 2025, Puerto Plata received 62 cruise ships between both terminals ; in previous months, such as March and July, it had already registered 65 and 36 calls, respectively.
From MITUR, the head of the office in Puerto Plata, Yokasta Almonte, highlighted that these figures are a clear sign of the "confidence of the shipping companies" , the maintenance of high safety standards and the institutional commitment to the continuous improvement of tourism services.
Each cruise ship arrival represents not only a flow of visitors, but also a direct injection into the local economy: merchants, tourist transport, community excursions and hundreds of jobs receive a decisive boost.
As the year draws to a close, Puerto Plata is emerging as a regional benchmark in cruise tourism and a leading destination in the northern Caribbean region, consolidating the importance of Taino Bay and Amber Cove as key pieces of the Dominican tourism boom.
