“"To position Jarabacoa as a premium real estate destination and to ensure that when people think of mountains, this place comes to mind.".
At 530 meters above sea level, in the beautiful La Vega Valley, lies Jarabacoa, one of the most attractive destinations for Dominicans and foreigners who enjoy mountain tourism. Its pleasant climate, with an average annual temperature of 20.2°C, makes this paradise in the Central Mountain Range one of the most sought-after in the country.
In the last decade, Jarabacoa has attracted the interest of large capital, leading investors and promoters to become interested in coming to this Cibao community with their projects aimed at tourism and vacationing.
The COVID-19 lockdown triggered a surge in demand for larger spaces and locations closer to nature. Rafael González and Paola Simó, a couple of real estate agents, were forced by the pandemic to move to Jarabacoa with their three children, overwhelmed by the confinement.
They left their jobs in the capital behind and set off on an adventure. They were aware that they might find business opportunities, although they didn't expect the gamble to pay off so perfectly.
Thus Cabin Brokers was born, a recently created company that, in just 10 months, manages 130 properties for sale and around 67 for rent, five employees, including a specialized rental department that accompanies the client before, during and after the stay to make it a memorable experience; in addition to a sales and investment advice department.
This young couple is clear about their plans: To position Jarabacoa as a premium real estate destination "so that when people think of mountains, they have this place as a reference; we want to grow together with the town.".
González put his accumulated experience in the real estate field to use, having founded the agency Mr. Home. He resigned from his position when he decided to move to Jarabacoa.
This area, with its spectacular views, is booming. Around 50 projects are currently under development, 95% of which are villas, most of which are between 45% and 50% sold.
“Jarabacoa has always been a popular vacation spot, but after the pandemic, the boom has been enormous. There are people who came from Santo Domingo and work from here, going for specific things; they moved here after the pandemic,” he explains.

The COVID-19 era reaffirmed Jarabacoa as a tourist destination, hence the number of new works and the renovation of villas by owners who have redesigned them and turned them from casual use into a space for profitability.
Land parcels for sale range from 500 to 3,000 square meters, with higher elevations being the most sought-after. Rentals, which were previously limited to weekends, are now year-round and offered for extended periods.
The young entrepreneurs are happy with the success they are having and their firm purpose is to serve their clients with appropriate advice for their investments, "committed to actively contributing to the positioning and strengthening of Jarabacoa as a premium mountain tourist destination, up to world standards.".
Mountain tourism is the perfect place because guaranteeing a climate of peace and relaxation, plus a pleasant climate and clean air, make Jarabacoa an ideal option for vacationing and disconnecting.
