In less than a month, in Santo Domingo, we have witnessed the serious consequences of construction practices that do not comply with current regulations for the construction of civil works.
Unfortunately, this time, non-compliance with construction regulations has resulted in the loss of a human life: a worker died during the construction of a tower in the Piantini sector of the National District. This tragic incident highlights the systemic failures that persist in the sector and the urgent need to implement corrective measures.
Professional and impartial technical supervision is essential at every stage of construction projects. Proper supervision not only ensures compliance with legal and technical regulations, guaranteeing quality and control over costs and timelines, but also protects the lives of workers and end users.

We urge developers and builders to prioritize the urgent need for independent, professional technical supervision to ensure the safety and quality of their projects. Only with a genuine commitment and concrete actions can we prevent tragedies like this from happening again. Supervision is not an expense; it is an investment in safety, quality, and trust.
In the Dominican Republic, a high percentage of construction projects lack independent technical supervision of the builder, a situation that exposes owners and/or developers to a vulnerable position regarding possible non-compliance with current regulations, which also increases occupational risks for workers, as evidenced in the most recent case.
An objectively neutral and technically skilled supervisor:
- Ensure the quality of the project: By avoiding technical errors and ensuring the use of appropriate materials.
- Protects worker safety: By monitoring compliance with occupational safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
