Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the reconstruction of road infrastructure in Las Terrenas, at a cost exceeding 48 million pesos, with the aim of further strengthening this tourist destination in the northeast of the country.
Collado stated that the project will have a great impact on the tourism development of Las Terrenas and the entire destination.
“Today we return here to Las Terrenas to begin work on this road as part of our effort to continue strengthening tourism in this beautiful province of Samaná,” said Minister Collado.
The project consists of the reconstruction of 6 road axes with a total length of 2.90 kilometers, of variable width; divided into four zones within the municipality of Las Terrenas, in the Abra Grande area, the beach, the center and the town of Los Pescadores.
The scope of work includes: restoration of the road structure, placement of an asphalt surface layer, construction of 900 square meters of sidewalk; 1,200 linear meters of concrete curbs, 4,000 linear meters of ditch for the proper flow of water, in addition, creation of a stormwater drainage system and signage; to guarantee the durability of the road to be built.
The project, which will be coordinated by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), will have a total cost of RD$48,283,610.20, and includes the following streets.
The works on Loma de Francois street consist of the creation of a new axis that connects Emilio Prud'Homme street and Salomé Ureña street, with a length of 230.00 linear meters and a width of 5.00 meters.
Meanwhile, on the Abra Grande entrance street, a connecting axis will be rebuilt between 27 de Febrero, the main road in the area, and Emilio Prud'Homme street, with a length of 245.00 linear meters and a width of 6.00 meters.
Other roads that will be worked on are: Hispaniola Street, which comprises 3 road axes, one main and two additional ones; Italia Street, also comprised of three axes; and Colibrí, La Ñeca, Coson Viejo, and Antonio el Español streets.
The project intervention includes the construction of curbs and sidewalks, a stormwater drainage system, cleaning of the road, placement of asphalt concrete and road signage (horizontal and vertical).
