SANTO DOMINGO.- President Luis Abinader said yesterday, Monday, that the government is willing to implement changes to the tax reform bill, stating that a tripartite dialogue between Congress, the government, and social sectors should take place in the coming days to reach consensus on the Tax Modernization Law, which is currently being debated in the Chamber of Deputies.
When asked about it on LA Semanal con la Prensa, the president acknowledged that there are proposals that need to be reviewed.
"When the reform was presented (...) it was always said that we were going to go to Congress to discuss it there, to see and analyze it," commented the head of state.
He also said that they are working on the Income Tax (ISR) "which is also one of the taxes that is easiest to evade, and we are working on it in general terms.".
He explained that the Government has international advisors and multilateral organizations that are collaborating with the policies implemented by their countries to improve the local system.
"It's a constant search, we see it now. We have a tax burden of approximately 14.8, which is a little higher than it was in previous governments.".

“We agree with modifying and improving the Law for the Promotion of Tourism Development (CONFOTUR 2001), but in a way that can guarantee investments for new projects and renovations, and helping the State to collect more and better,” said David Llibre, president of the institution.
