MOPC continues its infrastructure maintenance program this week

SANTO DOMINGO- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) continues this week its infrastructure maintenance program that seeks to make vehicular traffic safer in Santo Domingo and includes electrical work, painting of walls and railings, among others.

In that regard, from Monday the 13th until Saturday the 18th of March, several tunnels and overpasses will be closed to vehicular traffic in Greater Santo Domingo, in order to carry out maintenance work on those structures, reported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

The closures will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., according to a statement from the MOPC's Communications and Press Department.

From Monday the 13th until Friday, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will be working on the median barrier of the Las Américas Highway in both directions (partial closure). Additionally, there will be closures on the 27 de Febrero Avenue Overpass, the Juan Bosch Bridge, and the Juan Pablo Duarte Bridge in both directions (full closure)

The overpass at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Avenue and Ortega y Gasset Avenue will also undergo work (electrical work, painting of walls and railings)

Meanwhile, tomorrow, Tuesday, the following will be closed for the same reason: the underpass at Avenida 27 de Febrero with Avenida Tiradentes, the tunnel at Avenida 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill, the underpass at Avenida John F. Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, the elevated John F. Kennedy with Ortega y Gasset, the Las Américas tunnel, and the elevated Avenida John F. Kennedy with Lope De Vega and Tiradentes (all these works will be in both directions; and the closure will be total).

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the MOPC will be working on the maintenance of the Avenida 27 de Febrero overpass with Dr. Fernando A. Defilló and Carmen Mendoza, the Avenida 27 de Febrero overpass with Núñez de Cáceres, the Avenida 27 de Febrero overpass with Privada, the Avenida John F. Kennedy overpass with Lope De Vega and Avenida Tiradentes, the Avenida John F. Kennedy overpass with Avenida Abraham Lincoln, the Jacinto Fco. Peynado bridge and the Gregorio Luperón bridge.

On Friday, the following will undergo maintenance: the Las Américas Highway overpass with José Francisco Peña Gómez Street (Boca Chica), the Jubey Highway – Boca Chica underpass (dry bridge), the Las Américas Highway overpass with Puerto Caucedo Highway, the Las Américas Highway overpass with 7/6 Street (La Caleta), the Las Américas Highway overpass with Route 66 (East-South), the Las Américas Highway overpass with Route 66 (South-West), the Santo Domingo – Samaná underpass, the Las Américas Highway overpass with Hípica Avenue, and the Las Américas Highway overpass.

On Saturday, the work will be carried out at the Avenida San Vicente de Paul overpass intersecting Autopista Las Américas (dry bridge), the Avenida San Vicente de Paul overpass with Avenida Venezuela (dry bridge), the Plaza de la Bandera overpass (dry bridge), the Avenida Reyes Católicos overpass with Calle Respaldo 42 (dry bridge), the Avenida Reyes Católicos overpass with Avenida del Zoológico (dry bridge), and the Avenida Reyes Católicos overpass near Avenida Ramón Cáceres (dry bridge).

The Public Works Department apologizes to the public, especially drivers who travel on these structures, for any inconvenience the work may cause, while reminding everyone that the maintenance program for the aforementioned infrastructure is necessary to make vehicular traffic safer.
