SANTO DOMINGO – Housing units priced between 3,000,001 and 5,000,000 pesos are the most in demand in the Santo Domingo metropolitan area. The Building Supply Registry (ROE), in its latest report, recorded 3,077 units sold, reserved, or under contract, representing 47.3% of the total units and 41.2% of the total square meters (273,851.8 m²).
Of the 16,671 housing construction units being built in that area and registered by ROE, 44.9% are located in Santo Domingo (National District), 18.3% in Santo Domingo East and 17.2% in West.
Housing units priced between 8,000,001 and 15,000,000 million pesos represent 23.8%. Of these, the National District accounts for 64.8% of the units and the majority of the square footage (68.8%).
ROE is a census-type statistical operation carried out semi-annually by the National Statistics Office (ONE). It is designed to collect data on construction projects offered on the market—whether under construction, stalled, abandoned, or completed—in the urban area of the Metropolitan Region, for residential or non-residential use. This report considers the projects registered in the first update of this year.
The ONE document, released last week, states that the percentage of housing units sold, reserved, or kept separate is highest in Santo Domingo at 49.0%, followed by Santo Domingo East at 14.1%.
