SANTO DOMINGO. – In response to alleged cases of malpractice in the real estate sector, the Dominican community abroad is preparing to participate in the meeting "Protecting the Dominican Dream ," a joint effort by consular authorities and experts to provide guidance and tools that guarantee safe transactions.

The event will take place next Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Juan Pablo Duarte school, in the heart of Washington Heights, one of the areas with the highest concentration of Dominicans in Manhattan. An attendance of between 200 and 300 people is expected, and the event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The activity seeks to strengthen the confidence of Dominicans who wish to invest in their country of origin, but who often face risks due to lack of knowledge.

Alberto Bogaert, president of the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI), an organization participating in the event, provided the information to El Inmobiliario. The document sent by the representative of the Dominican association specifies that a program has been designed that includes speeches by authorities such as Consuls Jesús Vásquez and Bertico Santana, Congressman Adriano Espaillat, State Senator Luis Sepúlveda, and the Dominican Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, who will address the importance of institutional support for the diaspora.

According to the information provided, attendees will receive guidance on best investment practices, project conceptualization, due diligence, and tools available through the Ministry of Housing, Habitat, and Buildings (MIVHED). The day will conclude with a panel discussion featuring experts from various fields, who will address the main legal, tax, and regulatory challenges faced by the diaspora when investing in the Dominican Republic.

"Protecting the Dominican Dream" represents a concrete response to a latent concern among Dominicans residing abroad, who in recent years have represented 70% of home buyers in the country.

Beyond preventing real estate fraud, the activity aims to strengthen the bond of trust between the diaspora and the institutions responsible for protecting their rights.
