SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Republic will be the guest of honor at the 36th edition of Festuris - Brazil's International Tourism Fair, considered the most effective tourism business fair in the Americas.
The 2024 edition will take place from November 7th to 10th at Pavilhão do Serra Park in Gramado (RS), located in the Serra Gaúcha region of southern Brazil. The exhibition was founded over three decades ago with the mission of connecting brands, destinations, and people to contribute to the development of tourism.
Festuris 2024 will feature over 2,000 exhibiting brands representing more than 60 countries. In addition to the exhibition stands, there will be themed areas such as Espaço Luxury, Espaço MICE, Espaço Tech, and Espaço Green. Visitors can also attend conferences, workshops, business matchmaking sessions, and networking opportunities.
Eduardo Zorzanello, CEO of Festuris, said that the Dominican Republic joins the list of special guest countries at Festuris, preceded by Argentina and Uruguay, who have had a prominent participation in previous editions.
“It is an honor to have the Dominican Republic with this status as a guest country,” Zorzanello said.
The selection of the Dominican Republic as guest of honor is seen as a recognition of the remarkable growth that this destination in the central Caribbean has experienced in the tourism sector.
Zorzanello recalled that the Dominican Republic has always been present at the fair since its first editions, initially represented and then with its own pavilion from the 2000s onwards, reiterating that it is a source of pride for them as organizers to have them back since Brazil is a major consumer of Dominican attractions, especially its famous beaches like Punta Cana.
For her part, Paola Gómez, director of the Dominican Republic Tourism Office in Brazil, expressed that this distinction highlights the country's constant participation in Festuris and its effort to promote its attractions among Brazilian travelers.
“We are thrilled to receive this honor of being the guest country of Festuris Gramado 2024, especially since it is the first edition of the fair after the devastating floods that affected Rio Grande do Sul. We are confident that, thanks to the efforts of the gauchos, the state will emerge stronger than ever,” Gómez emphasized.
Festuris is a highly relevant event held in Gramado since 1989. It is a forum for discussion on current tourism issues and a key platform for business, achieving effective results for exhibitors.
In 2023, the fair featured 2,500 brands, 15,000 participants and 40 international destinations, occupying three pavilions with a total area of 27,000 square meters.
