SANTODOMINGO- The General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) announced the suspension of the contract for the design, supply and issuance of electronic passports, for more than 6 billion pesos, after verifying vulnerabilities in technical aspects of the principles of equality, participation and free competition.
Through administrative act 036-2024, the body indicated that it was through a request from the General Directorate of Passports where they were asked to intervene in order to clarify doubts and ensure the integrity of the process.
25 companies
At least 25 national and international companies showed interest in participating in the bidding process, Listín Diario highlights.
A resolution from the Directorate of Purchases and Contracts indicates that these companies submitted more than 265 questions through the Electronic Public Procurement System, referring to technical aspects.
“It was verified through the Electronic Public Procurement System that the circulars of questions and answers to more than 265 questions made by those interested in the procedure are uploaded, which, for the most part, referred to technical aspects,” they quote.
Although in the end only two of the twenty-five companies that showed interest submitted bids and participated in the process. “Formally, only two bidders submitted their offers in the reference procedure, out of the twenty-five that had shown interest.”.
