Juan Bancalari, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Samaná (AHETSA), expressed concern about the delays in the construction and remodeling of the new entrance to the province of Samaná, urging the authorities to complete the work as it negatively affects tourism in that area.
He stated that the process has been very lengthy, after highlighting the urgent need for a timely completion to support the tourism infrastructure.

Although he acknowledged the progress on the boardwalk in Santa Bárbara de Samaná, he stressed that the main focus remains the remodeling of the entrance to the municipality.
The construction, overseen by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), covers 3.3 kilometers from the district of El Limón to the main municipality of the province of Samaná.
Bancalari also highlighted the importance of this project for the economic reactivation and tourism development of the region, noting that a renovated and attractive entrance can make a difference in the visitor experience and improve Samaná's competitiveness as a tourist destination.
He also noted that the completion of the construction will have a positive impact on job creation and local economic growth.

This project, part of a broader initiative detailed by President Luis Abinader during the Government's accountability session in February 2024, reflects ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including the reconstruction of the Samaná-La Galera highway, the press release states.
