Carlos Bonilla Sánchez bids farewell after decree appointing Ito Bisonó to the Ministry of Housing

SANTO DOMINGO. – After the news of decree 3-26, which appointed Víctor Orlando “Ito” Bisonó Haza as the new head of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), the current minister of that entity, Carlos Bonilla Sánchez, published a statement yesterday afternoon, January 6, bidding farewell to the position he held for five years.

The construction businessman released a statement on his social media accounts in which he referred to his time leading that organization, explaining the alleged reasons that motivated him to end that cycle, as the first official to lead that Ministry, created on August 3, 2021, through Law No. 160-21, which transformed the National Housing Institute (INVI), where Bonilla Sánchez had been in charge for a year.

In the statement, the engineer expresses his gratitude to President Luis Abinader and his team, and points out the "personal" reasons that led him to leave his post.

“Today I conclude a very important stage of my professional life after five years at the head of the Ministry of Housing and Buildings,” he stated in the document.

In the text, Bonilla referred to the trust he received from the Executive Branch during his administration.

“First of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to President Luis Abinader for the trust he has placed in me and for giving me the opportunity to serve the country,” he said.

The former official also alluded to the creation of the Ministry of Housing and Buildings and the areas that this institution covered.

“Establishing and launching the first Ministry of Housing and Buildings in the Dominican Republic was a historic responsibility,” he noted.

He also mentioned the staff who were part of the entity during his term of management.

“I also want to express my special gratitude to the entire MIVED team… who made it possible to transform plans into concrete projects,” he said in the statement.

Bonilla explained the personal reasons that influenced his decision to end this cycle.

“For some time now I had made the personal decision to close this chapter in order to dedicate more time to my family and fully resume my business life,” he explained.

In his message, he indicated that he will continue to participate in other areas outside of public service.

"With the intention of continuing to contribute, from other areas, to the development of our country," he added.

The statement concludes with a reference to his departure from office.

“I leave grateful, proud of the path I have traveled and with the satisfaction of having served the country with honesty, dedication and a sense of responsibility,” the text concludes.
